Taffy

Hi! My name is Taffy. I was born in San Diego, California, but I don’t know exactly when. They tell me it was approximately February, 2002. A lady kept me in her garage and then took me to the Humane Society. Finally my new “parents” showed up and adopted me in April, 2004. They said it was love at first sight. They think I am very beautiful with my Abyssinian 3-tone coloring, my Siamese voice, and my raccoon-like black striped tail.

I gave them quite a time at first because I was afraid of everyone and everything for awhile. I was like a little kitten and didn’t realize I was biting when I thought I was playing. But finally I realized they truly loved me and weren’t going to send me back. I learned to trust them and even let them rub my tummy. Now I love to chase my feather toy and my ball. Best of all I get to sleep on “Daddy’s” lap.

I moved to Minnesota with my parents in 2006. I’ve had many things to adjust to but have learned my “parents” will take good care of me. I still get frightened when I hear thunder; then I run for cover. I survived a terrible hail storm and that pounding on the roof as it was being repaired. I hope I never have that happen again! Otherwise, my life is pretty uneventful so long as my food bowl is available and my “parents” are catering to my needs. I really don’t like it when they go on vacation. But now I know they will take me to Minnesota Veterinary Hospital where I will receive good care and lots of attention.

I guess you’ve figured it out by now. I am truly Queen of the family.

Barnaby

Barnaby is a two year old Lhasa Apso mix. Barnaby and I met at a Homeward Bound pet adoption held at Pet Smart. I went there only intending to buy cat food but, I was immediately drawn to this little dog. A half hour later, I was his owner.

Barnaby came from a “puppy mill” and had been very neglected. He had minor health problems and was extremely frightened of everything. He spent the first three days at my house either under the coffee table or under the bed.

But gradually he came to trust us and like us. He is now an active part of our family. He loves his toys and playing ball. He is fascinated by the antics of the two cats that live with him.

Barnaby is a wonderful little dog and he enriches my life daily!!

By the way, instead of sleeping under the bed, he now sleeps on top of it!!
